Overseas licence conversion

Overseas licence conversion preparation

You already know how to drive. What you need is the local layer: the road rules here, the road conditions here, and the way the practical test is assessed here.

Lessons built around what's actually different

I don't teach you to drive again from scratch, because you don't need that. We work on the parts that differ from where you learned: give-way rules, roundabout conventions, speed limit signage, school zones, and the specific manoeuvres you'll be assessed on. If you've been driving on the other side of the road, we spend time on positioning and mirror habits until they stop taking conscious effort.

No rush, and no assumptions about your English

I bring a background in disability studies and mental health first aid to my teaching, and a lot of that is simply about not making assumptions. I'll explain things clearly, check I've been understood, and go again if I haven't been. Nobody gets rushed through because they should already know something.

What the practical test will ask of you

South Australia has 2 pathways to a provisional licence. Most of my students take the VORT, a single on-road test of up to 45 minutes requiring 90% or more with no breach of road law. I'll prepare you for it, arrange your assessor and book it for you.

Common questions

It depends on which country issued your licence and what South Australia requires of that licence. What I can help with either way is being genuinely ready for local conditions and for the practical test if you need to sit one. Check your specific conversion requirements with Service SA, and I'll handle the driving side.
